Bishop Dwight L. Green, Sr. was consecrated a COGIC jurisdictional bishop in 2003 by Presiding Bishop Gilbert E. Patterson. He served as Prelate in the Republic of South Korea for 15 years establishing churches and encouraging independent ministries to join the Church of God in Christ.
Currently, Bishop Green is developing a network of ministries throughout Virginia that are diverse in approaches for community ministry and outreach. Servant Leaders who understand the importance and benefits of apostolic covering, accountability, and organizational affiliation may discover Grace 5 to be the place to affiliate and grow. In 2017 Bishop Green became the visionary establishmentarian of Grace 5 Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Commonwealth of Virginia Church of God in Christ, approved by the National Church's General Assembly. He desires to provide opportunity for others who wants to serve in the Lord's Church. Bishop Green is a knowledgeable practitioner and experienced veteran of community based ministry.
History distinguishes Bishop Green as a creative ministry innovator. Over the years he has used his experience and expertise assisting pastors and church trustee boards in developing management systems, financial programs, and media methods designed to support outreach ministry. He advises church planters how to organize and launch marketplace ministry in collaboration with businesses, government agencies, corporations, community organizations, schools, and individuals of influence. He believes strategic engagement is essential for today's ministry success.
Bishop Green is among the pioneers of Christian broadcasting in America. He is the eldest son of the legendary late Bishop Samuel L. Green, Jr. (COGIC General Board member) and Dr. Vivian F. Green. Serving with his father at St. Johns Church of God in Christ in Newport News Virginia, and COGIC Second Jurisdiction Virginia gave him a strategic opportunity to become a media expert. He was responsible for the media outreach ministry of "Faith For Living Richer Life Ministries", which included oversight of the weekly broadcast production, national marketing of the broadcast, mailing ministry, telephone prayer and counseling ministry, Tel-A-Vision magazine, audio/visual duplication and tape ministry, and the 120 Club. Over the years he worked with Pat Robertson, (CBN), Jim Bakker (PTL), Billy Graham Association, North American Renewal of the Christian Church (NARCC), Shepherds Conference of America (SCA), Bishop John and Ann Gimenez's Washington for Jesus, Jews for Jesus, and Tom Skinner Associates. Bishop Green has given life-time service to the kingdom of God cooperating with inter-racial, inter-denominational, international evangelistic, and mission efforts.
In 1989 Bishop Green was hired by the Board of Directors of Tidewater Christian Communication Corporation (TCCC) as General Manager to build television station WJCB, TV-49 licensed for Norfolk, Virginia. This was the first Christian independent television station owned and operated by African Americans in Virginia. Investors in this historic venture were, Bishop Samuel L. Green, Bishop Ted Thomas, Bishop Barnett Thouroughgood, Bishop Samuel Carruth, Dr. C. Benson Clark, Dr. Richard Honablue, Mr. Luther Cuffee, and Bishop Dwight L. Green, Sr. Bishop Green also was a member of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) for 25 years; and elected Vice President of the Black National Religious Broadcasters (BNRB).
His business acumen caused his father (Bishop Samuel L. Green, Jr.) to ask him to develop the business plan and supervise the development and operation of Barbara's Unisex Hair Fashions, Workman's Delight Family Restaurant, FFL Pavilion Estates (a subdivision of 21 single family homes in Hampton, Virginia), and Governor's Inn Assisted Living Facility, licensed in Newport, News, Virginia. Each venture was community based and afforded skilled and semi-skilled minority contractors work opportunities.
Presiding Bishop Chandler D. Owens appointed Bishop Green Chairman and Manager of Pontotoc LLC to build and manage Bishop C. D. Owens Townhomes, (a multi-million dollar Low Income Tax Credit gated community of 81 townhomes in Memphis, Tennessee). Bishop Green also served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of COGIC Memorial Home for the Elderly in Norfolk, Virginia.
Bishop Green was elected by the COGIC General Assembly and served as National Trustee of the Church of God in Christ for 24 years (six consecutive quadrennials). During his tenured he served as the second Chairman in succession of the National Board of Trustees. He presently serve as Executive Advisor to Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard, member of COGIC Financial Council, Chairman of the COGIC National Insurance Commission and Chief of Staff for COGIC Board of Bishops.
Bishop Dwight L. Green, Sr. is pastor of Holiness Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, Roanoke, Virginia and is married to Lady W. Diane Walker-Green who has been active in ministry with him for 48 years. They have four adult children: Missionary Venice D. Green-Hogan (Paul Hogan deceased), Lenise D. Green (deceased), Pastor Dwight L. Green, Jr. (Billie Jean), and Vivian D. R. Green.
ABOUT: DR. MILDRED L. LINZY
Supervisor Mildred L. Linzy's life is under-girded by her strong faith in God, her nurturing parents and her loving and supportive family. The third daughter of Bishop and Mrs. William Johnson, Supervisor Linzy at an early age became serious about her relationship with God and service to the church. She travelled with her parents singing before her father ministered the Word of God. She also assisted her mother preparing meals for special activities hosted by the church.
In 2020 Dr. Linzy was assigned to Grace 5 Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Virginia where she presently supervises the departmental affairs for women. Previous to her reassignment and transfer, in November of 2005 Mildred Linzy was recommended and appointed to be Supervisor for the Department of Women, Republic of South Korea Jurisdiction COGIC, resulting in commendable accolades for her service.
Supervisor Linzy has served her local church (Kelsey Temple COGIC) for more than 60 years. Endowed with a keen sense of assertiveness and God given ingenuity, her leadership has provided the impetus for the success of a variety of church programs. Formerly, she served as a member of the outreach ministry, sick and shut-in committee, mass choir, chairperson of the Annual Women's Day Service, and member of Kelsey Temple Trustee Board.
Supervisor Linzy was elected COGIC National Trustee in 1988 and has been re-elected nine consecutive terms serving 36 years. During those years she served three terms as Vice Chairperson of the Board. She was appointed treasurer of the Pontotoc LLC housing development project by Bishop C. D. Owens in 1997. Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard appointed her to the COGIC Financial Advisory Council in 2021.
In 2015 Supervisor Linzy was selected as one of the 150 most Influential Women of the Church of God in Christ. In 2017 she was appointed by General Supervisor Barbara McCoo-Lewis as alternate representative of Region 6, managing the regional leadership of twenty jurisdiction for the Women's Department. Later she was appointed chairperson of the Resolution Committee for the National Women's Department.
Supervisor Linzy has also been involved in community and social activities including: National Council of Negro Women, Charter Member of Women Information Process (WIP) Washington, DC, NAACP, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Grammy Awards) and the Religious Conference Management Association (RCMA).
Supervisor Mildred L. Linzy received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Strayer University (1990). She has a MBA from National Business School, Washington DC (1993); and acquired a Certificate of Completion from Pyramid Travel School. She received her Doctor of Human Letters, Honorius Causa from Breakthrough Bible College, Upper Marlboro, Maryland (2006).
Supervisor Mildred L. Linzy aspires to continue her service to God by serving others who need natural and spiritual enrichment.
