The Bishop Samuel L. and Dr. Vivian F. Green Scholarship Award is presented to an individual who is in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in media or technology at an accredited college candidate's choice.
Bishop Samuel L. and Dr. Vivian F. Green were great philanthrophists sharing financial resources with individuals needing support in their educational and business start-up endeavors. Mrs. Green donated to the American Cancer Society, Fraternal Order of Police, Sickle Cell Anemia Research. Bishop Green served on the Board of Visitors of his alma mater, Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia and has a Doctoral Chair at Regent University's School of Divinity, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Young men and women have benefited from Bishop Green's association and influence at Regent University being responsible for students receiving over 1.2 million dollars in scholarships from the law school, school of psychology, and divinity school. His family continues the legacy making contributions to individuals collegiate pursuits from the SL&VF Green Charity.
The Bishop Dwight L. and W. Diane Green Scholarship Award is presented to an individual who will be in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in liberal arts disciplines at an accredited college of candidate's choice.
Bishop Dwight L. Green, Sr. is one of the Establishmentarians of Emerald Blu Institute resident as part of Grace 5 Jurisdiction's commitment to educate and train the people of God to be productive professionals in the kingdom of God and the communities we live. The institute is a collaboration with Oral Roberts University providing accredited theological education, administrative and business courses, and technology courses. The institute will soon include media production classes.
Bishop Green is responsible for development of the summer youth collaboration between Norfolk State University and Hampton University that exposed junior high and high schoolers from across Virginia the opportunity to live on campus and have specialized studies during the summer to help familiarize teenagers with the college environment preparing them for the responsibility of independent living away from home while receiving an education.
The Mr. Luther and Doris Cuffee Scholarship Award is presented to an individual who is in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in business academic discipline at an accredited college of candidate's choice. Mr. Luther Cuffee was principally a successful Hampton Roads real estate businessman. Active as a deacon in his church he was a financial resource for community programs and projects that inspired young people to be responsible and productive citizens.
Mr. Cuffee was one of the initial investors in the first black owned and operated independent christian television stations in American and the only black owned stations in Virginia, WJCB-TV49 licensed in Norfolk, Virginia to Tidewater Christian Communications Corporation. The station became a voice for African Americans in the Hampton Roads community and cause young men and women to aspire to embrace the possibility of ownership in the broadcast industry.
Today Lady Doris Cuffee and family continue the legacy of entrepreneurship and is providing support to individuals pursuing a career in business.
